GOD GAVE ME FAMILY

As children learn about their families and the beautiful 4 position foundation that God created.

Children will receive binoculars which help them to appreciate their roots, past and heritage, see the present and imagine their own future family that they will create one day.

LEARNING STATIONS:

CHILDREN WILL LEARN BY DISCOVERING AT DIFFERENT STATIONS!

@CAMP: Stations will be part of the daily learning! For larger groups, children will rotate in small groups between the different stations. For smaller groups, children can rotate together from one station to the next.

@HOME: Use everything in 1 fun family lesson! OR feel free to use the scriptures, learning video, music + sharing circle on Sunday and continue learning throughout the week using 1 learning station per day!

  • Gingerbread men cookies- decorate with frosting and sweets for each family members. Take home and give to fam members

> Sharing Circle

Small Group Interactive Discussion & Prayer on daily theme. *Idea: Sit in a circle on sitting spots & use a special “talking stick” to take turns sharing.

  • DISCUSSION: CHOOSE 1 OR MORE DISCUSSION QUESTIONS & ACTIVITIES:

    • Why do you think God created family? Who is in your family? What do you love about your family? Every family is different- some families are big and some are small- God loves them all!

      IDEA: Have each child draw & share about their family and what makes them special.

    • How can God’s love be a part of your family? What do you think of the 4 Position Foundation?

      IDEA: Draw a family with a giant heart around it on a whiteboard. Write down kids’ ideas on how God’s love can be present in the family. For example: prayer, family devotional hdh time, true love, acts of kindness etc.

      IDEA: 4 Position Foundation art! Using a variety of materials such as string or pipe cleaners for arrows- create an artpiece of the family diagram centered on God.

    • How can we be a good child to our parents? And a good brother or sister to our siblings and friends?

      IDEA: Draw a Venn Diagram: Sort words such as: kind, loving, obedient, good listener, trust, share, be patient.

    • What do you think makes a good husband or wife? A good parent?

      IDEA: Kids can share what they appreciate about their parents’ relationship as husband and wife or parents share what they appreciate about each other! Also sharing about positive parenting traits!

    • What are binoculars? What do they help us do? Just like binoculars can help us see things close up- our family helps us to see our past- where we come from, our ancestors; our present family; and the future family you will each have one day.

      IDEA: Look into past. Invite children to share about their Grandparents. Look into future: Invite children to close their eyes and visualize their future family! Do they have lots of children?

    • EXPLORER TOOL: Have children cut out and glue on the tool they earned today for their Explorer page! *Binoculars!

    • PRAY: Together thanking God for family. Family is our school of love where can grow and experience God’s love together. Thank God for our roots that brought us here, our current family and the future families God will one day bless.
