Then God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered together so the dry land will appear.” And it happened. God named the dry land “earth.” He named the water that was gathered together “seas.” God saw that this was good. Then God said, “Let the earth produce plants. Some plants will make grain for seeds. Others will make fruit with seeds in it. Every seed will produce more of its own kind of plant.” And it happened. The earth produced plants. Some plants had grain for seeds. The trees made fruit with seeds in it. Each seed grew its own kind of plant. God saw that all this was good. Evening passed, and morning came. This was the third day. -Genesis 1:9-13

*TEACHING POINT: God Made Fruits & Vegetables

TEACHING WITH DISCUSSION:

Today we will learn about all of the fruits & vegetables God made for us! Does anyone know where fruits and vegetables come from? The farm/garden! That’s right. They start as seeds planted into the earth. How do we help them grow? Water, sunlight and love! Most fruits grow on trees & vegetables grow out of the ground. (Optional motions: Can pretend to plant seeds & grow into big trees!) What kinds of fruits did God make for us? (You can draw children’s answers, write them down or show pictures or play food). Strawberries, oranges, melon, apples...etc! What kinds of vegetables did God make for us? Broccoli, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes...etc! Put your finger on your nose if your favorite veggie is a tomato! Put your hand on your head if your favorite fruit is a strawberry! Etc.

Videos:

God also made all kinds of other food for us such as grains, meat, sweets and more! Fruits & Veggies are very healthy for us to eat! We eat healthy to nourish our bodies and grow strong! (Have children show their muscles!) They have a lot of vitamins and minerals. Who loves eating? What are your favorite things to eat? Food brings people together! What 3 mealtimes do we have? (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner). Sometimes we also have snacks, appetizers or desserts. Yum! Who here is grateful for God’s Creation? What can we do to say thank you to God for our food? (Pray before meals.) God loves us and created such wonderful things for us to bring us joy.
