“God Made People- Adam & Eve” Unit: God’s Creation
LESSON PURPOSE: GOD MADE PEOPLE! Adam + Eve.
MATERIALS: Learning & teaching toys: dolls, toy figurines, duplo blocks with animals + people. See below for craft supplies.
BOOKS: God Made You Nose to Toes / The Creation Story

AS CHILDREN ARRIVE: Choose 1 Sensory Activity:
Duplo Building- Children build houses and buildings. Add in some duplo people and animals.
Playdoh People- Print playdoh mats and have children make faces and design clothes using playdoh.
Dolls- Provide children dolls, barbies or other toy figurines to play with.
SCRIPTURE: Display the weekly scripture reading, have an older child read it or use it in the lesson as you like.

REVIEW & TRANSITION:
During the month of October we’ve been learning all about the beautiful World God Made for us! About day and night; the sky, the land and the seas; the trees, fruits and vegetables; and the animals. But God wasn’t done creating yet. The best thing is yet to come! What do you think He created next? (Us! People! You + Me!)
ATTENTION GRABBER: choose 1
Playdoh Person- Using a ball of playdoh, mold a person. Ask children to guess what you’re making along the way. Say that God handcrafted each one of us and molded us like a Potter and his clay.
Globe Beach ball- Pass around a globe beach ball in a circle (dollar tree) while singing “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands”
INTRO: Today we will learn about God’s most precious creation- humans! God, our Heavenly Parent, made us!

*TEACH the Lesson:
TEACHING POINT 1: God Made ADAM + EVE
TEACHING WITH DISCUSSION:
After God had finished creating the beautiful world, something was missing. He wanted someone to share His love with, someone to give this beautiful World to as a gift. God created people! God our Heavenly Parent said: “Let us make mankind in our image”. God took some dust from the ground and He breathed a breath of life into the dust- this made the first man Adam. God saw that Adam needed a friend so he caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep. While he was sleeping, God made a woman out of one of Adam’s ribs and called her Eve. He placed them in the most beautiful garden- the Garden of Eden and said “It is very good”. He asked Adam + Eve to grow in God’s love, have a beautiful family and to take good care of Creation.
Discussion:
Why did God make people? To share his love with them. To share this beautiful world with them.
How did God make Adam? Out of dust.
How did God make Eve? Out of one of Adam’s ribs.
Where did God put Adam + Eve? In the Garden of Eden
What did He ask them to do? 3 great blessings- Grow in God’s love (become good people), love others + create a family and take care of Creation.
TEACHING POINT 2: WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL? *Optional Extension
TEACHING WITH DISCUSSION:
God made people different (from the animals). He breathed the breath of life into us. This means God gave us a spirit. God dwells within us, and lives in our hearts. He created us in His image, in his likeness- male and female. Everything about us- is a reflection of God, our Heavenly Parent. Everything about us is perfectly crafted and unique. We each have our own body, personality, style, talents and hobbies. God also made us co-creators- we can create just like God can! Can animals paint pictures, make buildings or sing songs? No- only we can be creative just like God! This makes us super special. We are God’s special children whom He loves very much.
Discussion:
What makes people different from animals + nature?
We have God’s Spirit- the breath of life in us!
We are created in God’s image- male + female. We are a reflection of God, our Heavenly Parent.
We can create- like God. We can be artists, scientists, explorers, teachers, helpers… (Animals can’t do that) This makes us special.
We are God’s children.
CONCLUSION:
Today we learned that when God made the World, his most precious creation was us! God’s very first children were Adam + Eve. God loves us, his children, so much. He gave us the breath of life, created us in His image and made us each unique with special talents.

Dear Heavenly Parent, thank you for making Adam + Eve! Thank you for making us special and in your image. We are so grateful to be your children and to be loved by you. We will do our best to grow, love others and take care of the beautiful world you gave us. Amen. Aju!

GROUP ACTIVITIES: choose 1
Sing a Song: We Are the World or It’s a Small World
Pair Share: Share about your favorites with a friend- favorite food, color, hobby etc
Meditate: Listen to beautiful music and take a moment to close your eyes, take deep breaths- breathing in God’s breath and love, letting his energy flow through our bodies.
When I Grow Up: God made us each unique! Take turns sharing what you want to be when you grow up.
CRAFTS: choose 1
Spoon People- Children draw faces on the back of a spoon. Help children tie on a piece of fabric for clothes with a small ribbon and glue on ribbon hair.
Stick People- Help children shape a person out of sticks and pipe cleaners. Glue on a drawing of a face that the child drew.
Little Pumpkin- Pre-cut pumpkins- have children decorate them, glue on green hand prints for leaves and a photo of their face. “Your little pumpkin.”
Paper Plate Face- Have children make their face + hair on a paper plate using stickers, buttons, yarn, markers. Post them on a bulletin board.
Around the World Bulletin Board- Make an Earth. Have each child color + decorate a person. Glue the people around the world.
Children of the World- Print the coloring page.
SNACK IDEAS:
Oranges- “Orange you glad God made you?” ;)
Gingerbread People- Children can decorate with frosting and candies.
